What we are doing this year.

Sixth Grade

Students will learn the basic functions of the voice and learn to use it properly when working on music. Students will work on a variety of songs that they will perform at concerts. What? More than one? Yes. The students will be a part of more than just the Christmas Pageant. More details to come.

Solfege/ Sight-reading

Students will improve their sight-reading abilities by understanding how to apply solfege.

Music Genres

Students will learn several musical genres and their composers.

20th/21st Century Music

FIRST QUARTER

- Music History (Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th, and 21st

SECOND QUARTER

- Learn notes on the piano (treble and bass clefs)

THIRD QUARTER

- Compose for treble and bass clefs on the piano

FOURTH QUARTER

- Learn solfege and how to sight read music

- Learn and apply IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet)
